53rd regional competition „Jugend Forscht“ (Youth Researches): Spring (Jump)!

In a few weeks the moment will finally arrive again: The regional competition "Jugend Forscht – school students experiment" will be held at Lohmann in Neuwied.

Plakat_2018.jpgUnder the motto "Spring! (Jump)” researchers of all ages have again registered numerous projects, which they would like to present to a jury of 15 experts and the public. And so on Saturday, February 3rd, Lohmann's Technology Center in Neuwied Feldkirchen will be firmly in the hands of the young inventors; where questions such as: "Insects - infertile due to the light source?, or "How do plants know where up and down is?" will be answered. No matter whether its bacteria, organic waste bins or sandwiches, there is hardly anything that the researchers of tomorrow will not professionally examine in detail. Lohmann, the organizer of the competition for more than 40 years, is again a sponsoring company this year. Between 2:30 and 4 pm, the work of the young researchers can be viewed in the foyer of the Technology Center.

The two sponsorship representatives, Lohmann’s Dr. Peter Barth, Honorary Chairman of the Advisory Board and CEO Elmar Boeke, who assumes the sponsorship for Jugend Forscht for the first time this year, are looking forward to welcoming numerous guests from the public. Regional Competition Director, Nicole Otto, describes the event as “one of the few options in the local area, outside of the school environment, not only to acquire sound natural sciences knowledge, but with the aid of experiments, to learn the exact verification and monitoring of processes and to discover new things and to present this knowledge to a critical (specialist) audience. In addition, they will learn to assert these findings in front of a jury”. Furthermore, the competition has for years been making an important contribution towards finding tomorrow’s top-level employees.  "Here, young people are being provided with a platform in order to present their potential talents”, says Otto.
